A full remodel of an oceanfront house on Aliʻi Drive, inside and out, arranged around a new pool at the water’s edge, with a sun deck beside it and steps straight down into the ocean.
Scope
Design · Remodel
At the edge of the water
The house sits on the rocks along Aliʻi Drive with nothing between it and the ocean. The remodel ran through the whole house, inside and out, centered around the pool. It is the piece the property is now arranged around, set at the seaward edge with the open water just past the coping.
Beside it is a sun deck, and from there the steps go straight down into the ocean. Outdoor showers sit between the two, so the salt stays outside.
Remodeling on the shoreline
Working on an existing house at the water means finding out what the has already been done before deciding what to keep. We designed the remodel and built it, so what was drawn was drawn knowing the condition of the walls behind the finishes.
